The 7th Boro is proud to debut “The 87′ Grand Classic” which features Detroit MC Valid on top of production from Jaws That Bite. Their contrastive styles in addition to working alongside Grammy award winning/Shady affiliated producer DJ Head really bring out a new sound that is refreshing and hard hitting. The Motor City will be proud of this project. Valid and Jaws That Bite have created a masterpiece that will please the shrewdest Hip Hop connoisseur. Enjoy.
Detroit artist Valid and producer Slot A dropped their EP The Alley-Oop on April 28th and it is still garnering buzz on various blogs and radio stations, featured on podcasts. They enlisted DJ Head on production as well and the production is both an interesting mix of chill and grime, a good look. Not to mention Valid dropped a dope video from the project before the official release. This will be my fourth time listening while doing the review which as you know I usually do my review on the first listen but I’ve been super busy. But while I’ve been busy so have Valid and Slot- A.
From before and since the drop of their project they have had some major buzz worthy moments. DJ Eclipse debuted their single What Up Doe on Sirius XM Radio Hip Hop Nation. They even landed on New Zealand’s Cold Cuts Radio 105.7. I love when hip-hop spans the globe!
And as short as the project is I also felt it was worthy of a Scy review so sit back and join me as we check out Valid and Slot-A’s The Alley-Oop EP. Link after the review.
New music out of the Motor City! This is the 2nd single off the joint project from Valid and Chicago producer Slot-A,The Alley-Oop EP.
Hip-hop is a genre all its own. All it takes is that one sample and suddenly an ill beat is formed. One spark of inspiration and 16 bars turns into a whole song. That sample, that inspiration can come from anywhere. There are some sources of inspiration that are somewhat synonomous with our genre too. It just goes together.
Detroit’s MC Valid along with Chi-Town producer Slot A have come together, to bring us a new concept album The Alley-Oop dropping later this month. The record draws its inspiration from comic books and the subsequent influx of tv series, violent video games and action packed movies inspired by them.
MC Valid was nice enough to bless us with the first single, appropriately entitled Vigilante. The song features Brooklyn’s own Skyzoo and Magestik Legend of The Black Opera. I also would like to give a shout out to fellow artist Mr. Cliffnote who hit us with the dope comic inspired artwork.
If the first single is any indication of how the rest of the EP is going then I am hyped for the rest of the project. Check it out!
Detroit producer JMAC and emcee Valid team up to form Beyond Physics. They dropped a 5 track EP aptly titled The Samply Red EP yesterday. As you can imagine there are some dope samples. I’m really digging this laid back production and Valid shows his versatility in adapting to this vibe. Scy approved. Check it out!
