This DATE in Hip Hop (15 yrs. ago): Jay-Z- Reasonable Doubt

Jay-Z- Reasonable Doubt

On June 25, 1996, Jay Z’s debut album was released on Roc-A-Fella Records. I feel that it is his best album to date, second to none. (“Classic, SHOULDV’E went triple”) It is filled with great and vivid storytelling, amazing lyrics, and sick beats.  It was his first album and he displayed a level of hunger that has not been seen again.  He talked about his past, yet showed us a glimpse of what he would eventually become.  Til this day, he would not be considered as great as he is without this album.

Production: DJ Premier, Clark Kent, Ski Beatz, Big Jaz, Dahoud Darien, Damon Dash, DJ Irv, Knobody, Peter Panic, Sean Cane.

Guest Appearances: Memphis Bleek, Mary J. Blige, The Notorious B.I.G., Foxy Brown, Big Jaz, Sauce Money.

It includes bangers like Dead Presidents, 22 Twos, Feelin It Friend or Foe is a great concept/story… way ahead of his time on D’Evils… showed us what the future of Hip Hop couldv’e been on Brooklyn’s Finest… but this is MY PERSONAL FAVORITE
