Detroit native and DJ House Shoes recently dropped this fly mix of Dilla breaks with rarities mixed throughout. When he isn’t being an anti fuckboy activist, he’s doing his best to preserve the legacy that James built. I have to say, he’s done a pretty good job at it and as a consulting agent for Maw Dukes. Do the knowledge on his The Gift series and previous releases and show some support however you can. Follow him on his twitter account for some hip hop blunt reality. RIP JAY DEE.
So, on top of it being Superbowl Weekend, it was also J Dilla Weekend, celebrating the life and works of the late great producer out of Detroit. The homie Maxx Julian dropped this tribute over the weeekend and definitely worth the post. Check it out.
I heard Tony Touch play the AZ version of Seasons on Toca Tuesdays so I decided to hit up DJ Smu. He graciously edited the Nas, AZ, and Jay Electronica versions into one edit for your listening pleasure. Enjoy.
Nas over Dilla beats, a fly soliloquy! True indeed……I just wish Nas would have made this happen when Jay Dee was alive. Luckily for us DJ Smu added the Jay Electronica version to it and gives us the ultimate Halloween treat!
A lot of people have been anticipating this track since Nas previewed it at the Run The Jewels concert (what up Killer Mike and El-p!).
Now Nas liberated the studio version of “The Season”.
On this Track you find Nas rapping over a J.Dilla production called “Gobstopper” from his Donuts Instrumental LP.
I’ve always wanted to hear some of the Hip Hop greats to rap over this Beat and the fact that Nas did this makes me want to hear an entire (official) project like that.
