A Tribe Called Quest Low End Theory 25th Anniversary Mixtape

Here’s another ill mix from the man who brought us the Brand Nubian “One For All 25th Anniversary Mixtape”, the ‘De La Soul Is Dead’ 25th Anniversary Mix, and the ATCQ Beats, Rhymes & Life 20th Anniversary Mix. If you’ve heard any of Chris Read’s previous mixes, you know that this A Tribe Called Quest Low End Theory 25th Anniversary Mixtape is a must listen. Shout out to Chris Read, Wax Poetics, and WhoSampled for this audible goodness.

A Tribe Called Quest – Beats, Rhymes & Life 20th Anniversary Mix by Chris Read @SubstanceMusic

I can’t believe it’s been twenty years since A Tribe Called Quest‘s Beats, Rhymes, and Life album dropped. I remember copping the CD with my brother on the day it dropped so I could have the limited edition hologram cover. Some would argue that it wasn’t their best album but it’s a classic nonetheless. Shout out to Chris Read for keeping the spirit of the tribe alive.

RIP Phife

This morning I woke up to a post by D-Stroy stating that Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest passed. Phife was a household name for me growing up. From his work with ATCQ to his solo joints, I copped everything this man released. I’m a fan. I always will be. RIP brother.

Phife Dawg – Dear Dilla (prod. by DJ Rasta Root)

Dilla fam and 1/4 ATCQ, Phife drops his tribute to one of his favorite producers. Complete with cuts from multiple Dilla jawns, DJ Rastaroot did a great job and I look forward to hearing more from him. Please share and spread this as Dilla Day approaches. We all are continuing to keep his legacy alive and well. Some better than others.

A Tribe Called Quest – Bootlegs, B-Sides, & More (DJ Spair)

Years after the release of their last album, A Tribe Called Quest still has as much influence on Hip Hop now as it did back then. Q-Tip, Phife, Jarobi, and Ali made music for themselves as much as they made it for us. They made quality music. At a time where most Hip Hop being released was great, they found a way to outshine everyone else.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted some Tribe goodies but this one is sure worth the wait. DJ Spair blesses us with a lot of delicious treats in this mix. Some you may have heard, some you may have not. Either way….you know what to do! Get in the whip, crack the window, feel the cool breeze, and pump this classic shit! Bless.
