A Tribe Called Quest Low End Theory 25th Anniversary Mixtape

Here’s another ill mix from the man who brought us the Brand Nubian “One For All 25th Anniversary Mixtape”, the ‘De La Soul Is Dead’ 25th Anniversary Mix, and the ATCQ Beats, Rhymes & Life 20th Anniversary Mix. If you’ve heard any of Chris Read’s previous mixes, you know that this A Tribe Called Quest Low End Theory 25th Anniversary Mixtape is a must listen. Shout out to Chris Read, Wax Poetics, and WhoSampled for this audible goodness.

A Tribe Called Quest – Beats, Rhymes & Life 20th Anniversary Mix by Chris Read @SubstanceMusic

I can’t believe it’s been twenty years since A Tribe Called Quest‘s Beats, Rhymes, and Life album dropped. I remember copping the CD with my brother on the day it dropped so I could have the limited edition hologram cover. Some would argue that it wasn’t their best album but it’s a classic nonetheless. Shout out to Chris Read for keeping the spirit of the tribe alive.

Bizarre Tribe: A Quest to The Pharcyde (Official Teaser)

The good folks at Gummy Soul are mixing their Hip hop potions to create musical goodness. I can’t wait til September 13th! Keep an ear and eye out for this one.

As we approach the one year anniversary of 2011′s award winning Fela Soul release, we’re pleased to give you a sampling from Amerigo Gazaway’s upcoming mashup, “Bizarre Tribe: A Quest to The Pharcyde”. Utilizing the original Jazz, Soul and Funk recordings sampled throughout A Tribe Called Quest’s extensive catalogue, Gazaway recreates classic productions — pairing his reinterpreted instrumentals with select vocals from West Coast “golden era” favorites, The Pharcyde.

This DATE In Hip Hop – November 9th 1993 (A Tribe Called Wu-Tang)

Wu-Tang Clan – Enter The Wu tang (36 Chambers) & A Tribe Called Quest – Midnight Marauders

On this date, 18 years ago, Hip Hop was blessed with perhaps two of the greatest Hip Hop albums of all time. All though they differed greatly in their sound, A Tribe Called Quest & Wu tang Clan both brought originality to (at the time) a very original genre of music. I don’t know if ATCQ and the Wu realize the impact they’ve had on Hip Hop but coming from a true Hip Hop head…..these albums changed the game. If you do not own BOTH of these albums, please go out and purchase them. These two LPs are truly classics.
