H.I.S.D. is the best thing to come out of Houston since Phi Slamma Jamma. H.I.S.D. consists of a group of gentleman that have a genuine love for their craft. Hueston Independent Spit District consists of Scottie Spitten, LdaVoice, Equality, Savvi, Soul One, E Classic and King Midas. This is their sophomore album and they definitely eluded the curse of the sophomore slump. Their love for Hip Hop is apparent from the gate. The albums first track “Come Out & Play” is an invitation into their world…or shall I say Space (You’ll understand after you listen to the album.) The track has a real smooth sample and The District does not disappoint. The next track “Autobahn” is another banger that should be played at really high volumes. They all flow lovely over this track but Scottie Spitten rips it! On to “Piano Sunrise”: This track is the one that you close your eyes and vibe to! At this point I am being reminded why I fell in love with Hip Hop in the first place. The next two tracks “Seen Green” and “Crazy Legz” are Bboy anthems. I always listen to lyrics but the beats had me thinking how dope it would be to see Repstylez battle Dynamic Rockers over these two joints. Now on to “Lando”. This track has a 90’s Dilla feel to it and The District murders it. “Cranberry”, “Point of Know Return”, “Rockin”, “Space City Express”, and “The Weakend” all deliver a full Hip Hop experience and may cause multiple eargasms. My favorite track on the album is “SheetRock”. Here H.I.S.D. explains how they make love to the paper when the pen hits it. They paint a vivid lyrical picture on this track.

Overall, I feel this album is amazing! It’s a breath of fresh air in this polluted Hip Hop game. The Districts love for the art definitely shines through on this album. It is well planned and well executed. If I had to rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 for review purposes…..I’d give it a 21. Did I mention it only cost 5 bucks! Support great music! Bless.
